In the autumn I will be 10 years on Mixcloud and this spring we are celebrating 5 years of Smooth Sailing with some highlights from previous episodes. Unsplash Desmond Child started his career with then girlfriend Maria Vida ( Body Rock ) as the R&B influenced band Desmond Child & Rouge, but he is most famous for his work as a songwriter. He wrote dozens of hits, like Kiss's I Was Made for Lovin' You, Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name and Aerosmith's Dude (Looks Like a Lady) , which was first called Cruisin’ For The Ladies . After the guys from Aerosmith had told Desmond Child a story about the time when they wanted to approach a beautiful woman, who later turned out to be Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, the title of the song was born. Desmond Child was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008. Scott Walker, who recently passed away, was the front man of the Walker Brothers in the 1960s.
