The warm sounds fit these warm days of summer 😎   Probably the first one who made Latin versions of well-known songs was German composer, musician and producer Uwe Schmidt, also known as Señor Coconut. Meant to be rough sketches, Uwe Schmidt started to program a couple of Kraftwerk cover versions in traditional cha-cha-cha arrangement and decided to make this the second Señor Coconut album. Entertained by the result of the first recordings, he produced a total of 4 songs which he sent to some record companies. One of those, Tōwa Tei's Akashic Records, immediately licensed the album, entitled El Baile Alemán , releasing it upon completion of the production in 2000. Their name, "new wave" in French, referred to the new wave music that they covered and to the French New Wave cinema movement of the 1960s. They often reworked songs in a “bossa nova” style, which means "new wave" in Portuguese. Explaining how the project came about, band member Olivier Libaux later told the BBC: "Marc Collin and I were both musicians and producers in the French music industry when, in 2003, Marc called me with this very strange idea of covering Love Will Tear Us Apart in a bossa nova version. The album featured a wonderful three-panel cover, showing a panoramic view of Karen and Richard driving past the Carpenter family home in Downey, California. Her husband Romido Santos produced and played drums, and the supporting cast was fleshed out by members of Azymuth. At the time, the band were in their infancy, but they would go on to build a discography that defined Brazil’s samba-tinted strain of jazz-funk. Though she was musically literate from an early age, Mazzotti is not credited with any instrumentation on the album. Instead, Azymuth’s keyboardist Jose Roberto Bertrami served as an instrumentalist, arranger, and co-writer on several tracks. Recorded in Estudio Haway around the same time Azymuth cut their self-titled debut album there, it’s natural to consider the two records as accompanying pieces. It is originally from their CD Amplified Heart . This 1994 album brought the couple to mainstream audiences via the dance remix of their song Missing , which was done by house veteran Todd Terry. I wanted to do a similar chillout mix, but with a personal 'Professor Eddy' touch, so I added dance and disco influences. The final result is some kind of 'chillout disco' mix.
