Easter Disco Parade

‘Rise’ is probably the most appropriate song to start this Easter Disco Parade with! It’s followed by some classic (underground) disco and towards the end there’s a little bit of free styling with a track from ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ by Yvonne Elliman. By the way, I selected 33 songs, because Jesus died at age 33 (and the mix lasts two hours and 33 minutes...). I chose to play two songs from Giorgio Moroder, who is lending a helping hand on the new Daft Punk album. He celebrates his birthday next month. This is what Baron von Luxxury wrote about disco pioneer Giorgio on his birthday, 26th of April, last year:

“Giorgio Moroder was the first producer to blend driving dance beats, sequenced synths and the heart and soul of disco and give it all a pop sheen. He and Kraftwerk invented electronic music, and while the latter’s influence is undeniable in hip-hop and electropop, it is impossible to listen to any modern dance music and not hear nearly all of Moroder’s pioneering sounds and production techniques still in use.” (source: Discoworkout)."

I remember that ‘I feel love’ from Donna Summer, which he produced, was quite controversial at the time. Critics didn’t like the song at all, but they all saw it wrong. It paved the way for dance music in general and house in particular.
