Soulful Side Of Yacht by The Smooth Operators

Clarky Boy

Inspired by the upcoming Yacht Soul: Covers episode of Too Slow To Disco, The Smooth Operators (Martijn Soetens and Professor Eddy) dug for the best soul covers of yacht rock they could find.

In a way, yacht rock was a soulful variant of Westcoast pop/rock. It was mostly played by blue-eyed-soul artists, like The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and Hall & Oates. Because of the soulfulness of yacht rock, quite a few R&B artists covered these West Coast pop songs and they did it in an even more soulful way.

"Two worlds, paying their debts and respects to each other, in a series of brilliant covers that just jump out of the speakers.” (Too Slow To Disco)
