Suddenly Last Summer: AOR, Classic Rock & Sunshine Radio Pop

Turn on your car radio and enjoy this preview of summer on Sunshine Radio! 😊

Although shelved since 1979, the Keady & Vallins album could have become a successful LP at the time. However, the duo were out of luck, despite their original version of Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams’ number one hit Too Much, Too Little, Too Late. Fortunately their songs have been recently released, 45 years after its completion. All The Lonely Nights from their self-titled album is the opening track of this cloudcast.

The closing track by singer-songwriter Laura Nyro is from the Motown tribute album A Different World – The Holland-Dozier-Holand Songbook, out on Ace Records. The original version of Come And Get These Memories is from Martha & The Vandallas. There are two other Motown references on this cloudcast. Boo Hewerdine of British band The Bible quotes The Temptations song I Wish It Would Rain and Captain & Tennille do their version of Shop Around by the Miracles.

Next up is a Mixcloud Exclusive for subscribers only, followed by a Billboard chart from back in the day for all listeners.
