Funky Vinyl Grooves From The Crates

The lyrics of Impeach The President by the Honeydrippers are still relevant, just like the beats. If you check whosampled.com then you will find out that Impeach The President has been sampled more than 800 times…

Rose Royce used to play with Motown artist Edwin Starr and consisted of former members of studio band The Undisputed Truth. They became famous for the Norman Whitfield-produced soundtrack to the Richard Pryor movie Car Wash. With its hand-clapping, funky intro, exciting vocals and the band's great performance, the title track became one of the biggest disco songs ever, leaping to #1 on the pop and soul charts. The hand claps at the beginning have been sampled many times by a variety of hip-hop and R&B artists. In 2004 a cover version by Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott, was released as the single for the Shark Tales soundtrack. It reached the Top 5 in the UK but only #63 in the States.

Enjoy these funky vinyl grooves from the crates! Next up is a new show on Mellow Mellow FM.
