Let’s hit the road once more for an exclusive late summer drive! 😊 The track by Gary & Sandy is from the third part of the  compilation series Country Funk:
“Volume III shows artists continuing to buck traditional country tropes and production while embracing modern soul, disco, and coked-up 80s synth-pop.”

In 1980, You Might Need Somebody by American country singer and guitarist Turley Richards peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100. A year later, Randy Crawford covered the song for her album Secret Combination. It was the second single released from the album. Her version reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart. In 1991, Joe Walsh put a rock version of You Might Need Somebody on his album Ordinary Average Guy. The most successful version of the song was released in 1997 by English singer Shola Ama. The single reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart and became a top-10 hit in France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. It was additionally a top-20 hit in Iceland, Scotland, and Switzerland.
