Billboard to promote Boz Scaggs' Middle Man album |
Irene Cara who died at the age of 63 last year, was best known for the title songs of the films Fame and Flashdance, huge hits in the eighties. At first she was hired to be a dancer in the movie Fame, until the filmmakers heard her sing. Cara won two Grammy Awards (including Best New Artist) for her performance, plus an Oscar for Best Soundtrack. The title song of the dance film Flashdance brought Cara another success in 1983. Flashdance... What A Feeling, which leans heavily on Giorgio Moroder's synthesizers, became a number 1 hit in the United States with Cara's vocals. What A Feeling also won several major music and film awards, including the Grammy for best song and an Oscar.
The 1976 long lost self-titled Jaye P. Morgan album is some kind of Holy Grail among yacht rock lovers. The LP was recorded in Los Angeles at the legendary Sound City Studios. It was the first independant production by David Foster, two years before he co-produced Earth Wind & Fire's album I Am and went on to become one of the most popular producers of the yacht rock scene, including Chicago's album 17, which contains the classic hit You're The Inspiration. Keepin’ It To Myself by Jaye P. Morgan is the opening track of this cloudcast.
