Lazy Disco Groove

The China Burton track will be on a great new Brit funk compilation album by Joey Negro, called ‘ Back street Brit funk ’ that will be realeased next month. Funky Blue Note Trip

Image
This Funky Blue Note Trip is inspired by the great mixes of dj Maestro on the legendary Blue Note label. They are really cool, so check them out, if you can! There’s a mixture of funk, soul and, of course, jazz in this Funky Blue Note Trip. In the early and mid seventies jazz musicians made cross-overs to soul and funk with very surprising results. Especially the Mizell Brothers, who produced Bobbi Humphrey and Donald Byrd for instance, created the most innovative albums. Enjoy! Tracklist: Sabrina Starke – Intro She Is (2009) Bobby Hutcherson – Montara [Madlib Remix] (1972) Ronnie Foster – Me And Mrs Jones (1973) Yesterdays New Quintet – Footprints (2003) Bobbi Humphrey – The Trip (1975) Richard Groove Holmes – Groovin' For Mr. G. (1971) Lonnie Smith – Spinning Wheel (1970) Labi Siffre – Doctor Doctor (1975) Lou Rawls – You've Made Me So Very Happy (1970) 100% Pure Poison – Boarding Pass (1974) A Taste Of Honey – World Spin (1978) Maze Feat. Very Last Days Of Disco

Image
This is part 2 of 'Last days of disco': again a couple of tracks that could have been played in the movie ‘ Last days of disco ’ (or ‘ Boogie nights ’). Only one of them (the funny Carol Douglas track) is on the original LDOD soundtrack. It’s the opening track of the movie. Thanks to the Dazler for reminding me of the Space track. It can be heard in a remix version on a great mix album, called ‘Zen and the art of disco maintenance chapter 1’ that came out recently. And thanks to Nicolas for China Burton. Enjoy! Tracklist: Carol Douglas – Doctor's Orders (1974) L.A.X. – Dancin' At The Disco (1979) Dusty Springfield – That's The Kind Of Love I've Got For You (1978) Space – Carry On, Turn Me On (1977) Cerrone – Love In C Minor (1976) Fern Kinney – Baby Let Me Kiss You (1979) The Presidents – Girl You Cheated On Me (1971) BT Express – Peace Pipe [A Tom Moulton Mix] (1975) Mr. Q – Party Party (1979) Bionic Boogie – Boogieboo (1977) The Jammers –
