Funk Suprema

The idea behind this mix was to put some very cool funky and soulful tracks together, old and new. Last week I put a Philly mix up and in this mix are two songs from Philadelphia. The first one is from Vincent Montana Jr. under his moniker Sounds of Inner City and recorded in the legendary Sigma Sound Studios. And I think it’s MFSB, the Gamble & Huff house orchestra that is playing on the Skip Mahony track, but I’m not sure. And if they’re not, the musicians can imitate the sound very well! The Pat Les Stache track is an edit, originally done by Adriano Celantano. I recognize his voice, anyway. The guy on the picture is The Temptations' falsetto singer Eddie Kendricks. Many thanks to Nicolas Drosos. Enjoy!
