Wow! One of my heroes of the 1980s, Martin Fry, has returned with a new ABC single, which will be followed by ‘Lexicon of Love part 2’ next week. The new edition, 34 years after part 1, is done without producer Trevor Horn and will feature only new songs. Living In A Box member Marcus Vere wrote four tracks on 'The Lexicon of Love II', including the first single 'Viva love'. The accompanying video is directed by eighties video icon Julien Temple.
Beautiful swimming pool picture is from Stephen Shore (1947). At seventeen, Shore met Andy Warhol and began to frequent Warhol's studio, the Factory, photographing Warhol and the creative people that surrounded him. In 1971, at the age of 24, Shore became the second living photographer to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Shore then embarked on a series of cross-country trips, making "on the road" photographs of American and Canadian landscapes. In the 1970s his photographs of everyday life weren’t popular, because they were made in full colour and not in black and white, which was common back then. “To see something spectacular and recognise it as a photographic possibility is not making a very big leap,” Stephen Shore once said. “But to see something ordinary, something you’d see every day, and recognise it as a photographic possibility – that’s what I’m interested in.” From June 10 to September 4 there’s a
