Smooth Sailing: Seventies Summer Farewell

Enjoy your time in the floating hotel and wave goodbye to the summer of 2020 in a seventies style!

Montreal City by Azymuth (or Azimüth as they were called at the time) is from Bob Stanley’s excellent new compilation 76 In The Shade, out on Ace Records. The Brazilian trio started out as a cover band in the early 1970s, but switched to their own material in 1973. Their debut album was released two years later and featured Montreal City, a tribute to the city that would host the 1976 Olympic Games. It marked the beginning of their own ‘crazy samba’ style, a melting pot of Latin, jazz-funk and electronics.
