1981 The Year When Disco Revived

Burst
Enjoy the final part of the series

In 1981 disco was more popular than ever in the Netherlands. There were more disco hits in the year-end Dutch top 100 singles chart than in each year of the 1970s, the decade when disco was at its global commercial height.

In 1963, at the age of 13, Caroline Crawford signed a contract to Motown Records, after winning a talent contest. She sang backup vocals for many of the early Motown artists, and recorded her first solo song in 1964. She left Motown a year later and after a break she would pop up as Hamilton Bohannon's lead singer in the late 1970s. You can hear her voice prominently on Let’s Start II Dance Again. It was number one for weeks on my personal hit list at the time.
