Groovy, Sexy And Soulful Part 28 Summertime Edition

Enjoy this 28th edition of ‘Groovy, sexy & soulful’! One of the key tracks is ‘Hot fun in the summertime’ by Sly & the Family Stone. Stewart Mason from Allmusic.com wrote this about the song:
"One of Sly and the Family Stone's biggest hits in the three years that they dominated the pop and R&B charts, 1969's "Hot Fun in the Summertime" shows the group at their most mellow. The lazy summertime tempo, set by Rosie Stone's insistent one-chord piano line (shades of '50s early rock ballads like the Platters' "The Great Pretender") and embellished by easy listening-style strings and horns, is perfect for Sly Stone's nostalgic, romantic lyrics. The whole thing is unexpectedly sweet, with even Cynthia Robinson's occasionally grating voice harnessed perfectly for her explosive vocal solos. Groups like Chicago would take a less funky version of the same sound to the charts into the '70s, but it would almost never be this good. "Hot Fun in the Summertime" was originally a non-LP single (something of a rarity in the US record business, although it was common in the UK and elsewhere through the '70s), not appearing on an album until the Greatest Hits collection in late 1970."
