I’m very glad and more than proud to work together with London-based model, designer, stylist, photographer, composer, singer and DJ (of course!) Mary Lake this time! Her extremely catchy song 'My heart' is one of the tracks. The closing song by Mayer Hawthorne is from his new album ‘Man About Town’ that came out last week.

One of the tracks is a re-edit by Todd Terje (named after his idol Todd Terry). He is Terje Olsen, a DJ and producer (Bryan Ferry, Robbie Williams) from Norway. Without any doubt Todd Terje took disco-edits to the highest level possible in the last 10 years. I was very impressed when I first heard his sets on ‘Beats in Space’. Norwegian disco pioneer Bjørn Torske’s ‘Sexy Disco’ caught his ears in 1999 and inflamed his love for the disco sound. In 2001 Todd Terje got in touch with Prins Thomas, and was also introduced to Hans-Peter Lindstrøm in Oslo. He soon began to make is own re-edits of old disco records and moved on to his own productions. He released his album ‘It’s album time’ in 2014 and collaborated with Bryan Ferry on his album ‘Avonmore’.

I told it before, but 'Groovejet' by Spiller was co-written by Rob Davis, former guitarist of glam rock band Mud. He also wrote Kylie Minogue's smash hit 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and a long list of dance songs that includes Mika, Atomic Kitten, Oliver Cheatham, Grace, Lisa B and Saint Etienne.

Apart from the picture of Sharron Davies, there are two songs that inspired me to make this mix. One of them is a recent track from Duck Sauce. The repetition of the female vocals reminded me of Stars On 45 (I believe they both sampled 'Gotta Go Home' by Boney M). The other one is from Dutch singer Dee Dee. I heard ‘I put a spell on you’ on a recent episode of Tim Sweeney’s ‘Beats in space’. In the accompanying video she looks a little bit like a sex doll, but I love the song! Unsplash Enjoy the soundtrack to a West Coast sundown! 😊 The closing track by Matt Duncan is brand new, by the way. It sounds like a lost recording from The Nightfly sessions by Donald Fagen. At the time critics sometimes called David Cassidy’s music bubblegum pop. That was simply defined  music manufactured to sell as much records as possible and it was mostly aimed at a very young audience. Bubblegum's classic period ran from the mid-sixties to the mid-seventies. At that point disco music took over the single market. However, David Cassidy certainly made some very good records, although in later years he found it difficult to shake off his teen idol image. “His wispiest, breathiest hit was called ‘I Am A Clown’.
